SINCE I WAS a small kid I have always loved traveling, and it has been my greatest passion ever since. I do love all kind of travel, but its in particular backpacking and the whole  philosophy that comes with it, that I really love. I will tell you why:

The Story
I'm an explorer and love nothing more than being on a great adventure somewhere in the world. I value the benefits of traveling, the knowledge and cultural understanding it gives you. Being a traveler can be challenging from time to time, but is definitely most of the time rewarding.

It is indeed special to enter a totally new country somewhere in the world, that are so different from back home. You don't know what to expect or what lies ahead of you, but that's what makes it to a big adventure!

"traveling is an adventure"
What it comes down to, is the thrill and excitement when crossing over some random boarder somewhere in rural Asia, with scary boarder soldiers, the rewarding experience when traveling on a local bus through steep mountains, villages and vast land, meeting up with friendly locals in a random street bar, and sharing traveling information and experiences with fellow backpackers!

Hard core traveling is about pushing limits, about challenging yourself, getting out of your comfort zone, cultural experiences, local food, getting to know the beauty of mother earth and human relations. That's me in a nutshell.

My time on the road and abroad
- Backpacking Asia for 12 months ( year 2005)
- Traveling the Silk road from China back to Europe - 6 months ( year 2009)
- Working as a cultural representative in Disney World, Florida. ( year 2003-2004)
- Exchange student in Shanghai, China. ( year 2008-2009)

Spending 6 months traveling all the way from Shanghai, China - back to my small hometown Flekkefjord, Norway through central Asia and the Middle East! ( 2009)

“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” – Cesare Pavese

However, even though I have always been a solo backpacker, traveling is extremely sociable. You meet new people all the time!

“I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” – Mark Twain

Most importantly- traveling is all about taking the time to meet up with the locals  (traveling photo from 2005 - Vietnam)

“If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.” – James Michener

Never forget to stay adventurous as a traveler. There is always something new to discover, just keep your eyes and ears open. Stay hungry for experiences!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Explore. Dream.  Discover
